Universal Wire Retractor

By: Ben Kaufman

Concept takes two of the basic wire retractors, and stacks one above the other. Both retractors move on the same center axis, however top and bottom move in opposing directions. User would simply fold a wire in half and insert the fold into the clasp in the midsection, which would hold the wire giving the spring/retractor the leverage it needs. Several different sizes and versions could be produced to accommodate all wire diameters. Bigger versions could connect to extension cords, laptop adaptors, etc.

OMG, I just put this idea on the site, before I saw it was already invented. Shoot me now...I just pissed away $99 bucks

The logo looks alot like the Mont Blanc logo. You think they are going to have a problem with that?

Nice to see this thing slowly climbing up the charts. Wouldn't mind seeing a wholesale order come in...heh.

              Come on threshold!

i think it is a great idea, and - i LOVE the name - yes - slingbacks are historically womens shoes (and i have a large collection) - but the name fits - would you consider making a round one thats big enough to hold a standard electric cord? i hate having cords laying around - anywhere, lamps, kitchen equipment, curling irons, fans, whatever - and i was suprised to find out my hate of cords is not unusual - the colours you have are cool - and a colorful circle laid out on the floor or counter (or hanging light, how cool would that be??)would be a great idea - i'd go for 10 right off the bat - cali

WHy not make a larger pone of these that can hold four different cords? Perfect for under office desks...

Why not make one that works with fatter cords? Many of the wires under my computer desk are fatter and would benefit by being hidden in this device.

When this product surpasses the pre-sale threshold, won't it just murder product 0011? Personally, I'd like to have a stack of these instead of cord weights in my laptop case.

Over three months and just over 1/4 of the way towards the pre-sale magic number. So what happens if you never hit 500? The longer it's up there, the less successful Quirky looks.

I can't wait for this product to come out... so many 3' cables running around my desk right now it drives me crazy! :)

Just wondering how long you'll wait to reach your goal of 500 pre-sales. Is there some cutoff date on which the idea will be abandoned and removed from the site?

To re-ask Steve's question, is it possible to commit from abroad? If so, where do we stand on delivery charges? The FAQs say you have members worldwide, but committing requires a state!

@matthew - probably not until presale quota is met.

@lindsey and Helena - the Slingback is stackable. Would that solve your 5-1 need?

Lindsey's idea is great! I'd love to have like 5 Slingbacks in one case for behind the TV.
