The time has come to start the Concept Phase for Andrea Zabinski’s winning Strainer Bowl Submission
We have posted three of our own concept directions, for you to rif off, rip off, explore or ignore! The Concept Phase should focus on exploring the function of the product; your posted sketches/ideas do not necessarily have to focus on the ‘look’ of the product. They should simply illustrate a certain function, or set of features. In some cases, the function will dictate a certain form, and that’s totally fine!
To help guide the community and QDS through this project, we have come up with the following ‘vision statement’. Throughout this project we will continually refer back to this to measure our success at all stages of the project:
STRAINER BOWL VISION STATEMENT
“Seamlessly Marrying Kitchen and Tabletop”.
Function:
- Smoothes the transition between cooking, serving and storing.
- Easy to clean.
- As few parts as possible… no small parts to lose.
- A joy to use for people of all ages and physical ability.
- Makes intelligent use of gravity for manipulating water flow.
Form:
- Aspirational design language makes visual sense in the kitchen and the tabletop.
- Materials/form working in harmony with function.
- When required to, form communicates how product will work.
Let’s get to it!
