This is a simple multi-generational toy idea that has the potential of becoming an addictive play of endless possibilities (translation: fun). Target demographic: 10 to 100 years old The toy consists of a set of 72 1"x1"x1" cubes and one metallic base (12" x 12"). Each individual cube has a tiny magnet embedded inside and each face is a different color (primaries & secondaries). The idea is born from ... more

This is a simple multi-generational toy idea that has the potential of becoming an addictive play of endless possibilities (translation: fun).
Target demographic: 10 to 100 years old
The toy consists of a set of 72 1"x1"x1" cubes and one metallic base (12" x 12"). Each individual cube has a tiny magnet embedded inside and each face is a different color (primaries & secondaries).
The idea is born from taking the virtual 2D "pixel" out of the screen and bringing it to 3D reality. The pixels become construction elements to create all sorts of structures, art objects, shapes, puzzles, u name it (abstract and/or figurative). A lot of possibilities to be found here.
Will be posting more info and sketches soon...

I would like to see a floor mat manufactured which when stepped upon would issue
an alarm or perhaps a musical sound. This might be accomplished through
an underside attachment (much like the devices used in musical gift cards),
or a mechanism which issues a sound when pressure is applied when the mat is
stepped upon. Having taken care of many patients with Alzheimers, I have often
wished for the security of knowing when they get out of bed at night. This sort
of mat, which might have an on/off switch of some kind could possibly alert
a caregiver sleeping nearby. It also might be useful beside small children's cribs
or beds, or even by a door or window where an intruder might enter in the night.
If an electronic device cannot be incorporated, perhaps some sort of whistling
device could be involved, again by being activated through the pressure of someone
stepping on the mat.
It's hard enough traveling with a baby. An inflatable infant car seat would solve so many logistical, packing issues, while ensuring the safety of your little bundle of joy when you travel. We are talking about an inflatable seat that would consist of some hard plastic parts to act as the base with fabric straps, plastic buckles and inflatable seat. Cool.
A little quirky fun for sleepyheads and fitness-freaks alike.
An alarm clock which combines these cruncher hand workout things with an alarm clock. Forcing one to crunch a little morning workout to stop the alarm.
And this should really get you awake.
Included below a rough "design" to illustrate the idea. If you look close you see the little contacts below. When these connect, the circuit closes - and kills the alarm noise.
You might even chose to kill the alarm sound only after repeating it 10, 20 or x-times -
depending on your constitution. This can be actived in the settings on the backside.
The clock/alarm part is centered in the upper metal rounds inside a rubber ring or coating to equal out the little deformation caused by crunching.
So how about a little workout in the morning to really get you awake and fit?
Hope you like it.
Cheers
Marc
My idea for a new product is a sound activated light up iPod/iPhone case. For some years there has been a technology known as electroluminescence, quite a mouthful but basically this technology enables a material to emit light. This technology can be made to be sound activated and has been used in t-shirts for quite some time, basically the shirt lights up at the different frequencies and volumes that exist in music. Enough talking, have a look at this video of a light up shirt working: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHPA-_bXClA
My idea is to take this technology to create a new, never done before iPod/iPhone Case which I believe will sell very well to both kids trying to impress their mates, and to people looking for the perfect novelty gift to give on a birthday. The light-up iPod/iPhone case can be done in a huge variety of styles and colors so this is more than just a product, its a product range. I have made a prototype of this technology, the sound you can hear is what is going through the headphones, have a look here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFznLaKUeMs
Product Specifications:
* The iPod/iPhone case will flash to the music which the iPod user is listening to through their headphones.
* The iPod/iPhone case will use power from the iPod (which is rechargeable). The iPod case does not use much power so this will NOT drain the iPod's battery too much.
* The iPod/iPhone case will have a small switch to turn it on and off for times where people do not want it flashing.
* This technology is surprisingly cheap so customers will not be put off by price.
* This technology is tough and robust so will not break easily, if the case is dropped it will still work, meaning it not only looks cool, but protects the iPod/iPhone as any case should.

NOTE: I have pre-approved this submission with Quirky, the Quirky team have said it is possible for this iPod/iPhone case to be designed and manufactured if you make this your favourite product.

I really want you to share in the success of this innovative, never been done before product so if you think its a great idea, and that it will sell well to the millions of iPod/iPhone users around the world please let quirky know by voting. The technology is also available to make the iPod/iPhone case light up when coming in close proximity to a WI-FI network, could be a cool product to add to the product range for users of the i-phone.
I submitted this idea a while back and since it received such a nice chunk of the votes I decided to re-submit this idea for the fourth and possibly final time.
Yes - you can buy a wide angle lens for your cellphone
Yes - you can buy an entire set w/ a case if you own an iphone
BUT!
A lot of you had many good ideas on how these lenses could be carried around and attached to the phone.
That's why I think this idea holds a lot of promises since so many things can change during naming and industrial design.

So quirksters, what do you say?
This is a simple idea that could make a difference in the task of taking the garbage to a public container.
The idea is to have a trolley that has the trash can (removable) with a 3 wheel to climb stairs in an easy way!
So, with this product, you dont have to go with the trash in your hand; head; back..wherever you normally do.
For the beggining i would make a 50lt can to use a 120lt trash bag, but other sizes might do as well.
You might search for one alike and you'll find similar solutions for the garden, but none like this for a domestic use.
Quirky has the ability to make more appealing designs for the trolley and for the trash can itself, but the picture i made says it all.
The handle is folded like a luggage bag, so your back wont suffer when you are in stairs.
So i say...YES WE CAN!
