  I like your recycled bottle a la Lego connector toy idea....I think you should submit that. I haven't researched it to see if anything is out there like it, but it could be bottle builder connectors, where kids make forts, cars, etc. out of empty plastic bottles. Earth Day here we come! I'm sure all the Quirky minds would come up with a fun way to snap or connect those bottles together. Girls could make Barbie houses. :)
