Bonjour! Quirky goes French with Auchan

Posted ago by Nathaniel

We’ve been working hard behind the scenes over the last couple months to frenchify the Quirky site and experience for a whole new community of inventors across the Atlantic. Today, we are proud to announce that Quirky and Auchan have officially launched Quirky in France! New community members and ideas are already flowing through our French language site, fr.quirky.com.

What does this mean for you, our English-speaking community? Well, we’re officially in another giant retailer! That’s great news for all you influencers out there whose products will be on Auchan store shelves. As for ideas submitted to fr.quirky.com, they won’t be visible in on the English language Quirky.com/invent page. This keeps your idea scroll clean and discernible, preventing confusion and maximizing visibility across the respective languages.

On a related note, anyone with an existing Quirky account will not be able to login to fr.quirky.com. We’ve done this to prevent cross locale submissions, which would be unfair to everyone involved. As for the inevitable concern regarding similar submissions: our standard policy will apply for every submission to fr.quirky.com. If you need more information, please refer to our policy in the Quirky forums.

We’ll be evaluating the top ideas submitted to fr.quirky.com on October 31st, in what will be the first of many French Evals to come. Stay tuned for updates as we get closer to the event.

They've got a link to sign up for Quirky at the store. ET, I don't see an idea scroll.

So we are not having a chance to get influence in French products? This separation thing seems wrong, by lot of reasons.

Great Step forward! I love the French Alps and the Saint-Tropez region, but I will never get the hang of the language. I know how to say Deux bières, Quatre croissants, that's about enough for two or three weeks vacation hahaha.

Nathaniel, can you give us a list of what products will be or are already in Auchan?

Will the French eval be in place of the American? Do we get to earn influence on the .FR stuff.?
bob wezer
can i influence french products and will the eval be in french?
Baconesto
Can we participate on French Live Evaluation too , whenever there's a need for community vote?
Baconesto
Yeah! Why can't we see the ideas they submitted too?

We have Auchan in Italy too

If these are separate sites, then I suppose we can have two accounts - one English and another French, right?

Concerning accounts at both Quirkys: Quirky may be using the same deterrent it has in place for multiple accounts: make it pointless. Our tax ID # can only ever cash out from one+ account.
Imants Č
@Clinton that's not the same. Why French can register on EN and others not on FR? "Egalite" someone?
Thrifty
interestingly one cannot register with the same email as the main one used on Quirky.com

Maybe I am not getting this, but how is that "not being able to log into the other site" thing going to work? As it stands now, you don't have to have an account at Quirky.com to look at the ideas. How does this prevent the ideas presented here from being "harvested" and submitted at fr.quirky.com?

Great now there are two website that are going to be completely F&^ked. I think you need to get your house in order before expansion. I haven't been doing anything since the site was updated. Timers are non existent under influence page, the site barely works (at best) under Firefox, no one from quirky will acknowledge any of the users complaints. this is like watching a bad car accident and I can't look away.
Michael Henry
I just let Google translate the site and I can use it like it was the English one. In fact Michel Henry just signed up. Strange choice of a different site instead of just translating the current one. No idea how this can work without a bunch of conflict.

so French people like Jackie Le Fulcher (french) can submit on quirky.com but he would be prevented from submitting to quirky france as he was a member here first? or he can register on that site with a new email ? they way im reading it members on quirky france cant also submit tou quirky.com this is a bit unclear "cross locale" both france and the UK are in the EU and trade bvarriers do not exist, thus i see no reason why one should be excluded from making inventions and goods for sale in the EU and world wide exclusivly by french people. it seems a cartel.
